Shortly thereafter, Pankaj Singh became active in the Bhartiya Janata Party. In 2004, he became a member of the BJP’s Yuva Morcha state executive. In 2007, he became a member of the state executive of the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit. That year, his name was also announced as the party’s candidate from Chicagoan assembly constituency in Varanasi. But after his father’s advice that he should work for a few more years in the party before entering electoral politics, Pankaj Singh decided not to contest. In 2010, he became BJP’s secretary in Uttar Pradesh and later held the post of general secretary. This is his fourth term as the General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP.
